Sonangol USA (Houston, Texas)


Sonangol USA

The Customer
Sonangol USA is a crude oil & products trading office based in Houston, Texas. Sonangol USA sells crude and hydrocarbon derivative products on behalf of Sonangol E.P., the national oil company of Angola. Naturally, the company's operations process and data tracking abilities are a key to its success. Coordinating trade pricing data and contracts between offices can be a people intensive process.

The Challenge
Sonangol was ready to move from a manual, disconnected, and people intensive process to an automated and homogenous system to track cargo and trading data. Pineywoods Tech was invited to bid on the RFP for a custom system solution. We are proud to have the privledge to say that we won.

The Solution
Sales Global Trading System (SGTS) - The SGTS database is an Internet based application that provides the Sonangol London, Houston, and Singapore offices with the ability to create and maintain cargo scheduling and tracking information. The system brings commonality to the Scheduling Operations workflow process, automates reporting used in the process, and increases the quality of work performed by personnel.

The system solution is distributed across the globe in a peer to peer topology with local access in each trading office.

 

Sonangol Limited (London)

The Customer
Sonangol Limited is a crude oil & products trading office based in London, England. They sell LPG, crude, and hydrocarbon products such as Fuel Oil on behalf of Sonangol E.P., the national oil company of Angola.

The Challenge
Angola is a country with an infrastructure that is always under duress due to the millions of citizens concentrated in the capitol city of Luanda. This causes both power and communications outages at random times throughout the day. Sonangol Ltd. needed an online web presence that would have the availability that better represented their company.

The Solution
Sonangol Ltd. asked Pineywoods to solve this problem. We recommended moving the site to London where the reliability of infrastructure was greatly increased. We were able to create an online web presence in a new DMZ for their Knightsbridge, London office. We were able to build a multi lingual web application that adheres to their branding requirements and flows seamlessley to the portal system hosted in Angola.

 

BP America Inc.


BP America Inc.

The Customer
BP America is an oil & gas giant based in Houston, Texas at the Westlake campus. They are a major player in the market and are structured with both upstream and downstream operations. As one can imagine, being a large company brings the necessity to use third party systems. Managing integration and the moving target of efficiency, between the people and those systems, can pose its own problems.

US Logistics - Terminal Account Management

The Challenge
The Terminal Automation System (TAS) is managed by the Distribution Support System Team (DSST) for BP US Fuels & Logistics. During 2004, the TAS application was formally audited. The audit tested compliance with Section 404: Management Assessment of Internal Controls of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX). Certain recommendations were made As a result of the audit.

To comply with these reccomendations, BP required a web based account provisioning solution to manage all the North America terminal database servers.

The Solution
The solution provides an automated workflow process for requesting, approving, provisioning and auditing user accounts for the Terminal Automation System.

The TAS project includes custom software developed to interface with an internal Terminal Access System by TopTech. Pineywoods was able to create a solution that includes account provisioning, approvals, updates, password reset, password recovery, and access control list change auditing.


Compliance Management - Reporting Platform Migration

The Challenge
The current Reporting Server hardware was reaching end-of-life and had experienced component failures over the previous 18 months. Furthermore, the growth in Reporting scope and increased demand for Reporting outputs had brought the old hardware to the limit of its capacity. In order to ensure continued availability and supportability of the BP Compliance Reporting Service, it has been decided to migrate Reporting processes to a new platform.

The Solution
Pineywoods was able to provide expertise and knowledge in transitioning to a new reporting environment that better suited the needs of the department.


Compliance Management - Reporting Improvements

The Challenge
Managing the compliance for software and patches on ten thousand workstations and laptops is no walk in the park. BP already had the data aggregation in place, but needed a solution for reporting patch and software compliance in the Americas.

The Solution
Teaming with the BP representative, Pineywoods helped create the compliance reports and SQL server procedures for processing the data based on metrics provided by BP.

CompuCom is a leading IT outsourcing company providing infrastructure management services, application services, systems integration and consulting services, as well as the procurement and management of hardware and software.

Compucom and Getronics are able to provide superior services through subcontracting projects to companies like Pineywoods Tech. We have an existing relationship through a professional services contract with Compucom / Getronics USA.

 
Keais Records Inc.

The Customer
Keais Records Inc. is a nationwide records retrieval service company providing a full range of Records Retrieval and Litigation Support Services. Keais is based in Houston, Texas and provides services to its clients ranging from large insurance companies to small law firms.


Custom Solutions - Notification Service

The Challenge
Keais uses a records management database named MR created by OMTI. They interact with clients primarily via email and telephone conversations. The number of phone calls and emails used to communicate with clients can occupy valuable time which can be used processing case orders. Keais needed to free up more time for an order processor and increase productivity.

The Solution
Pineywoods was invited to listen to the problem and evaluate the system. We were able to recommend optimizations affecting productivity by automating status communications with their clients. Following our recommendations helped to free up valuable minutes per case spent composing status communications.

We were able to create a fault tolerant and template based notification system providing order status and order item availability notifications for Keais clients. This solution was custom designed taking into account the customer environment and desires.


B2B Solutions - Positive Payment

The Challenge
Keais proactively decided to participate in a program which afforded them increased protection against bank fraud. Keais needed to integrate their payment system with their financial institution.

The Solution
We were able to create a B2B service that not only integrated with their financial institution, but also provided logging and an auditable data trail. This solution greatly increased their protection against fraud.

 

Chart Access Inc.

The Customer
Chart Access Chart Access, Inc. is a privately operated medical records retrieval, scanning and storage services firm headquartered in Houston, Texas. State-of-the-art medical records retrieval practices, document management technology has positioned Chart Access, Inc. as a premiere leader in the medical records retrieval and document management industry.

The Challenge
Chart Access earned the opportunity to enter into a new client relationship with a large insurance company. The conditions of this relationship included B2B integration and automation of the Chart Access system with the client system. The requirements also included adherence to an industry standard format for insurance data named ACORD.

The Solution
Pineywoods was invited to evaluate the requirements for the B2B relationship and design a solution to satisfy the needs of both parties. We created the Chart Access XML gateway, hosted by Chart Access. It is a SOAP compliant interface with the required operations for interacting and data exchange using the ACORD standard.
